Fit Guide

Barefoot shoes fit differently. Here is why — and how to find yours.

Most of our customers wear one size smaller than their conventional shoe size. Here's what that means for your order.

How to measure your foot at home.

01

Trace on paper

Stand on a blank sheet of paper and trace around your foot with a pen held vertical. Do this in the afternoon — feet are slightly larger then.

02

Measure the length

Measure from the very back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe (usually the big toe, but check). This number in centimetres is your JP size.

03

Check your width

Measure the widest part of your foot (across the ball). If this is more than 10cm, consider the Wide option. Contact us if unsure.

Standard or Wide?

Both widths have the same wide-toe-box silhouette — the Wide option simply has additional volume across the ball of the foot and through the toe box. Most people do well in Standard. Choose Wide if:

  • Your toes feel cramped in any shoe, even with room to spare in length
  • You have bunions or a wide forefoot
  • Your foot measures wider than 9.5cm at the ball

Transition Guide

Your first four weeks in barefoot shoes.

Week 1

Short walks only

20–30 minutes per day. Your calf muscles and Achilles tendon need to adapt. Soreness in these areas is expected. Shin soreness is not — if you get that, slow down.

Week 2

Build to 1–2 hours

Increase duration gradually. If you're a runner, add short easy jogs — 10 minutes maximum. Notice how your foot contacts the ground compared to before.

Week 3

Half days

Most acute adaptation is done. If anything still hurts, go back to Week 1 pace. People who have worn cushioned shoes for 20+ years may need 6–8 weeks total.

Week 4+

As comfortable

Full days are possible for most people by this point. The goal is not to push through — it's to give the body enough time to rebuild naturally. Trust the process.
